ARE WE GETTING DUMBER OR SMARTER?

 Intelligence has a strong effect on human life although it is abstract. Everything that people have done from the past to the present involves intelligence. Many people think that humankind is less smart than in the past. However, I believe that we are getting smarter.

  First of all, people have invented many things for centuries through their intelligence. These things are still being developed. Everything such as; cars, houses and all machines that make our lives easier is better than the past thanks to technology. It shouldn’t be forgotten that technology is being developed with the help of human intelligence.

 Another issue is that we live in a world which is equipped by technology. It may enable our brain to work efficiently due to the fact that it presents new sources and ways for us to learn. If we think about the past, people didn’t have the current facilities because of lack of technology.

  On the other hand, some people think that people are less smart than the past because technology is decreasing our ability to think. Moreover, it is taking away the importance of everyday skills and communication skills. However, when people use technology properly, they will probably see how their brain has evolved. In addition, IQ has generally increased more rapidly in developing countries which have the latest technology.

 In conclusion, the times are changing and conditions are also altering. Our mental abilities and the way we use our minds are also changing, which reflects on IQ levels. However, many surveys show that today’s people are smarter than ancient people.
