Money is an indispensable part of life. It can be used for
several purposes. Some prefer saving it to reach big goals, however, some enjoy
spending it instantly. Both of these preferences are a personal choice and have some good aspects,
but, I think, saving money for long-term goals is a wiser way of using it.
Some people tend to use money for short-term pleasures
because they believe that life is short and thus we can't know what will happen
in the future. They are partly right in that life is not indefinite, but this
thought doesn't mean that we should live without thinking of tomorrow. They are also right in that
tomorrow is unknown but, again, that doesn't change the possibility of facing illnesses,
accidents, or unemployment in the future. We should always save money for these negative situations because when
we face them, our savings help us to cope with them. To exemplify, when a
person needs to go
to hospital for medical issues, which can happen at any moment, knowing that he
is able to afford the best possible treatment for his health is a great source
of relief.
On the other hand, a wise person doesn't save money for only
negative situations but also positive ones. Every big goal in life such as travelling
or buying one’s own
house, etc. requires huge sums of money. To have this amount of money, people
should save their money over the long term. Thus, in short, wise people save
money, reach goals, and then feel a great sense of accomplishment thanks to
their self-control mechanism.
