THE CAUSES OF CORRUPTION

Corruption can be regarded as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. As can be known, many people encounter  corruption in their daily lives as an economic crime even if they are unaware of the potential dangers of it. Despite the governmental or individual attempts to eliminate this issue, there are ongoing effects including the high rate of crime, the collapse of the rule of the law and most importantly increasing poverty. As corruption in many areas, especially in political environments, is so prevalent, it is not surprising that people feel the need to  analyze  its results.
With regard to the political sphere, people offer bribes because they want to benefit from others unfairly for their own interests. Without any doubt, many businessmen are dying to get  an appointment or promotion, win a contract and the like., They use every means possible including trying to gain an advantage over others via bribes so as to achieve such goals . From the corrupt officials view, it can be seen as an innocent incident, because they may be respected by their colleagues and families for their capabilities in outwitting the authorites.
Apart from the status promoter request, there are many people who avoid a fine, penalty or even taxes. For example, take a clerk, due to the systems that do not work well and properly, he cannot earn enough money and guarantee that he will have a job in the future. As a result of this, he has no other way except for contributing to his income through bribes. Instead of blaming  those people for preferring corruption, the government must reevaluate the  attitudes and circumstances that make people disregard the law. As can be seen, corruption is not just about behaving immorally; it is also about how the government runs the country and manages the rules.
Socioeconomic characteristics and the size of the population are integral to analyzing  the causes of corruption as well. It goes without saying that thanks to having inadequate and insufficient policies, corruption prevails in many small municipalities. In other words, because of the requirement of far more local officials, it is harder to keep tabs on each one and provide citizens with proper administration. When it comes to  low economic development, poverty and having less opportunity to get rid of poverty are factors leading to  corruption. Aside from small municipalities, a long period of political instability has a tendency to trigger corruption in big cities. When we look at the latest  issues on the Turkish agenda, corruption stands out as one of the most significant ones. Being unsure of how the government should operate and what practices are corrupt cause people not to take necessary measures against such an issue.
As can be concluded, although both political interest and the socioeconomic or managerial deficiencies are known factors for the widespread corruption all over the world, lower levels of education underlie  all those reasons. That’s why educating not only the citizens to make them aware of their rights and which candidate to elect but also the government to use  its power properly is of prime importance to eliminate the issues about corruption.
