THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF GLOBALIZATION

The progress of science is usually believed to improve the quality of many processes, products and services including technology, communication and the economy.  Thanks to the process globalization, numerous people have started to integrate and interact with each other, while most  companies and governments of different nations have made use of this process for the purpose of international trade. Although it is widely accepted that globalization has brought about innumerable developments, it is not living up to what was promised, and is, in fact, a very major problem for both the economy and societies of the modern world.
As for the adverse effects of globalization on nature, it uses up finite resources more quickly, especially coal. Obviously, the excessive usage of fossil fuels may give rise to more carbon dioxide emissions, unless the increasingly industrialized nations cut back on other fossil use. On the one hand, most large companies look to become competitive and to stop producing in developed western countries so as to find a cheaper workforce in other countries such as China and India. Unemployment and low living standards prevail in most parts of the world expanding the gap between the proletariat and bourgeoisie. Yet, as companies become global, the rich get even richer whereas the poor become poorer.
When it comes to inequality within and between nations, globalization has a great part to play in economic negativities. As a concrete example, the decreasing number of smaller independent companies demonstrates that thanks to globalization, they are less likely to compete with larger companies such as Mc Donald’s. However, the foremost effect of globalization can be the disappearance of cultural diversity owing to the fact that most powerless and economically dependent states rely on other dominant countries for a myriad of reasons. ( most non sovereign states which are powerless) , goods and services are perpetually obtained cheaply from elsewhere. Take a country that is unable to produce its own food or clothing; it can be easily asserted that depending on imports and imitating other prosperous countries cause this country to lose its own cultural and economic values.
To sum up, at first glance, the onset of globalization could be deemed as of prime importance to economic and cultural developments, but people should gain an insight into its drawbacks including unemployment and national anomy. I am of the opinion that governments should use innovative methods and research deeply to satisfactorily meet industrial job shortages, to maintain a basic welfare system and to offset the economic fraction as far as possible.
