People are limited by
the century that they were born in, they cannot they cannot bear witness to
other times in history; other wars, and other important situations. Even
though they cannot experience other centuries, people have many “witnesses” to the rest of history; artifacts and
historic buildings. Today, people are in a competition to build bigger homogeneous structures unlike older historic buildings. These new style structures dominate many large cities. Creating homogeneous and
complex cities satisfies societies and people
cannot clearly notice the
importance of historic buildings, as a result of this, people burn,
damage and vandalise them. To conserve humanity’s history, we should draw attention to historic
preservation.
All
historic buildings and artefacts provide us with a way into history. Old buildings and
areas are a way to connect with a place’s history;
we can better understand history, if we know how to look at them. Historical
preservation is a very important issue for us, because nowadays many historic
buildings and artefacts are damaged in Syria, Iraq and Greece; because of crises and wars. We should
take measures to preserve them, because understanding unique historical
buildings and artefacts is
the only way of experiencing history.
Historic
preservation is also important to urban planning because planners make an effort to
conserve old building styles and this represents a good combination of new and old. As a matter
of fact that, unique historic structures are important in many respects when they are
compared to skyscrapers. Contrary to new cities, older cities had their interesting,
unique historic buildings, hence we should encourage historic preservation to
understand this presence of historical evidence and to create a less monotonous downtown
landscape. These buildings are
the identity of our culture and past.
To sum up,
historic buildings and artefacts are one kind of reminder for us; we can watch
our history from their perspectives. Historic structures should be preserved
and understood with different approaches. The larger the number of historic building, the
greater the number of witnesses
of history; thus we should pay attention to them.
