THE REASONS WHY SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES ARE SO POPULAR (This is a 60)

Social Networking has revolutionized our way of life. For this reason, people continue to sign up for Facebook and other social networking sites such as Twitter, Foursquare and Instagram despite their many significant drawbacks. In order to understand this undeniable increasing popularity, the reasons why social networking sites are so popular  should be examined.

On the one hand, social networking sites are the easiest way to keep in touch with acquaintances. In today's world, everyone works with computers, and friends are a click a way. Research shows that a greater number of people who can just socialize at the weekend because of their business life, use Facebook during working hours. Not only Facebook but also many major sites are useful to know where your friends are, what they are doing and what they are thinking about. For example, Foursquare is a location based social network, it gives you points, badges and makes you mayor of places. However, the more important thing than these awards that makes Foursquare popular is the possibility to shout to your friends where you are.

On the other hand, communities, corporations and organizations need social networking sites to spread all over the world and communicate with each other. In the past, people were using mail groups but now every kind of community such as school clubs or big associations find Facebook groups more useful. Additionally, many companies attach importance to their social network pages and accounts to sell more products. Social networks are incredible advertising spaces.

To sum up, social networking sites are popular because of two main reasons. The first reason is being more social and the second is organizing like-minded individuals and advertising. It can not be doubted that these networks make things easier but at the same time overuse of these sites may bring bad results no matter how popular they are.
