ABORTION

Recent advances in genetic science allow us to detect defects and anomalies in the fetus. Thanks to innovations in  genetic science, (body) deformations, mental retardation, fatal diseases, genetic disposition to cardiac disease or diabetes can all be detected. In such a case, the parents are in a situation where they have to make a very difficult choice: to let the baby live or abort it. It’s my contention that a fetus with serious physical defects should be aborted.
Some people emphasize the fact that every baby should be given a chance. According to them, nobody has the right to decide who lives and dies. With the same argument, parents don’t have the right to decide whether their baby continues to live or not. However, although everbody has the right to live, including a fetus, a fetus with serious physical defects may always depend on his/her parents. Parents generally die before their children, which makes it difficult for individuals with serious physical defects to live without their support. Moreover, this situation is a burden on parents, psychologically, physically and financially due to the fact that these children may change their parents’ life. If the parents don’t feel strong enough to handle this situation or can’t afford to provide the necessary care, they should abort a fetus with serious physical defects.
People who claim that a fetus with serious physical defects should be allowed to live emphasise the discrimination. That is, saying only the perfect or healthy have the right to live is discrimination. However, this discrimination leads parent to abort their children. Before making a final desicion , they should first think about the possible challenges their child might face. They may be excluded by others. Furthermore,  if parents let the babies live, they may not enjoy life to the fullest due to the fact that their lives might be filled with pain.
In conclusion, before making this very difficult choice, parents must think hard  and consider all the possiblities. If they don’t feel strong enough to handle this challenge, they should abort their babies.
