As the world becomes more capitalistic, economic disparity is
becoming an inevitable fact; this means
that the future may be pregnant with a diverse array of challenges for
countries. Today, most underdeveloped nations such as Pakistan, Nigeria suffer
from greater income inequality due to lack of adaptation to the new world
order. Therefore, there is a wide gap between the poor and the rich. The severe
competition between these two groups has detrimental effects which create an
uneasy atmosphere in these societies. Such impacts include lack of an
adequate health service , educational
problems and unemployment.
The first harmful impact of income inequality is lack of adequate health services. Most affluent nations have an advanced and moderately-priced health care system for all citizens. Thus, these citizens are at an advantage in terms of life expectancy. On the other hand, health care opportunities do not seem bright for underdeveloped countries. In these countries, life expectancy is lower so the rate of mortality is high. Even though the rate of mortality is high, the population growth rate is also high owing to the wrong population policy. In addition, greater income inequality might contribute to greater obesity because of inadequate consumption of nutritious food. Mental health is naturally influenced by obesity since most such people experience the feeling of isolation from society.
The other effect is educational problems. A higher level of income inequality may widens disparities in educational attainment because this can produce differences in children’s capabilities and tendencies. To illustrate, let’s consider the student who has lived in comfort since s-he was little. His or her parents have taken his-her wishes for granted. S-he has studied at expensive and high quality colleges. However, the other side of the coin is different. How can a suburban teenager compete with this student? Is it possible? Not really. As such, the inequality in education has the power to permanently change people’s lives.
Finally, the last effect is unemployment. According to recent research 2 out of every 3 individuals who are qualified cannot find a job in underdeveloped countries. Thus, most of them encounter emotional problems such as depression, disappointment and so forth . Moreover, the majority of the unemployed may commit crimes like burglary because of the search for adventure and lack of money.
In conclusion, income inequality is one of the most crucial issues in this modern world. As can be seen, these impacts are too serious to be ignored. Therefore, authorities should take some counter measures instantly in all areas from education to health to economic growth.
