CHILD MARRIAGE

Marriage refers to living happily with "one’s best friend" under the same roof. Nevertheless, today, marriage does not mean this in some parts of the world such as India, Tanzania, and turkey. In these kinds of underdeveloped countries, early marriage has been becoming a prevalent problem due to lack of education, poverty,  illogical customs and so forth. No matter what its causes are, this issue which has to be overcome instantly since it has devastating effects on young girls who cannot bear such a burden. Such impacts can be explained in terms of psychology, sociability and health.

The first harmful effect is that child brides are subjected to physical, emotional, verbal  and sexual violence. This situation creates permanent damage . As the name implies, they are children. Thus, they should run on the streets, play games with their peers and above all, they should go to school. Staying at home,  doing housework  and babysitting are not their cup of tea.

The other drastic effect of being a child bride is about sociability. Such marriages imprison women in ignorance, poverty and dependence that robs them of their future. While their peers can receive an education, they cannot go to school. Therefore, they cannot form  friendships which are  the most significant things for kids in childhood. As a result, women are made passive by their spouses and ignored by society. Thus they melt into the background  becoming  completely withdrawn.

The last impact of being a child bride is about health. Teenage girls are not mature enough to bear a child and look after a child. A survey last month revealed that 82 % 14-18 year old child brides have a baby and many suffer major depression and physical health problems. Furthermore, more than half of them attempt to commit suicide. Consequently, child brides tend to face severe trauma because of the heavy burdens of marriage.

To conclude, early marriage is a widespread issue which has countless detrimental effects. Individuals cannot wait 50 or 100 years to eradicate this problem. Some analysts have reported that there is a direct correlation between the rate of child marriage and ignorance. In this regard, education is the largest protective factor against early marriage. Finally, I want to say that we should allow young girls to just be young girls.
