THE EFFECTS OF IMPERIALISM

Imperialism is a phenomenon that means  a mother country takes over a smaller nation or colony for political, social and economic reasons. For many years, imperialism has been a major force in shaping the modern world. In particular, in the last century, after World War 2, imperialism took place in the Middle East. Powerful countries tried to compel the rest to do what they desired. Some of them did so as they needed manpower, and the others wanted to possess the oil resources of certain areas. However, it is noteworthy that there are many negative effects of imperialism that can be interpreted from a variety of viewpoints.
First of all, as mentioned above, enslavement of the labor force to powerfull businesses from the developed world is a huge impact. Most European and American states have sought manpower in the underdeveloped lands such as Sub-Saharan countries and Asian countries. It is a well-known fact that  with the Industrial Age, there have come into existence a large number of factories. However, there was a catch: The West also suffered from a lack of population to employ in the workplaces. In order to meet this crucial need, labour from small nations was called for. Data shows that Mercedes, for instance, has abundant foreign workers who migrated from Asia to Germany. Therefore, enslavement of the labour force to strong businesses  has quickly become an effect of imperialism.
Secondly, it is not possible to turn a blind eye to the fact that the West has cruelly exploited the natural resources of small nations. England, for example, has entered South Africa to acquire its' gold, silver and chromium. Therefore,  Britain has increased its' economic growth as Africa has gotten worse, financially and educationally. The United Nations are  another example of a group of imperialistic countries which deceive smaller nations. In the early 2000s, America's army entered  Mesopotamia ( Iran, Iraq and Syria) to bring peace to the area. Over the course of time, it was seen that America had received most of the oil resources of the region. Furthermore, the small nations lost control over their own present and future due to the existence of imperialistic countries.

In conclusion, when all the above mentioned points are taken into  consideration, it is evident that the negative effects of imperialism are considerable. It should be said that  the only owners  of the world are not powerful countries. Every single nation undeniably has the right to say something about its' own future. For these reasons, we ought to stand up against imperialism.
