NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION

Throughout history, people have expressed themselves in different ways which could be writing, dancing, smiling or drawing on the walls. Whereas speaking is the most prevalent sort of communication, our relationship with people is affected by our nonverbal communication skills which are facial expressions and gestures.
To begin with, one of the most effective nonverbal communication skills is our facial expressions that alter according to the situation. For instance, while a smile can be related to happiness, a frown can be concerned with anger or sadness. In such instances, since we can see a person’s emotions on his face, we don’t need to speak to understand his/her feeling.
Secondly, gestures which include waving, pointing and using fingers are also very effective and important types of nonverbal communication in relationships. Today, people can express many things with only gestures. For deaf people, sign language has been developed and it indicates how important gestures are. Not only deaf people but also teachers, politicians and advertisers usually use gestures to express something during a conversation which can be a lecture, a seminar or an advertisement to be more influential.

In conclusion, nonverbal behaviour, which is communication without speaking, has always been very important. It is very effective in relationships and might be noticed everywhere.
