SPERM BANKS

In the 20th century,  technology has developed so radically that humans have developed many other ways of having children .  Sperm donation is one such method and is, which is the provision or donation by a man of his sperm, with the intention that it be used to impregnate a woman who is not usually the man's sexual partner, in order to produce a child. Sperm banks help those who want to have a baby by allowing a doctor to inject a syringe of sperm from an unknown man into their uterus. Whether or not sperm banks should exist for these people or not is a controversial issue. While some people are in favor of  sperm banks, others are against it.
It is argued that  sperm banks can supply a continuation of desirable traits . Proponents put this idea forward because they think that people can choose  what kind of child they should have and thanks to this, women can raise their child however they want. That means they are actually unethically designing their own babies by choosing a sperm containing genetic information that they wish their babies to own, which raises the issues of designer babies. However, this is not a proper process. This process can best be compared to an industrial process. Women who are single and worried that they might never marry and have a family and want to be mothers apply to  sperm banks and then they get pregnant. This process is just like the stages of production.  The forming or building of a family should remain a natural process because this is the only emotion that has  remained pure. If we lose it, we lose our humanity; we become robots.
Some people claim that women should be independent from men when having a baby. Thanks to  sperm banks, women can have babies alone. As a result, they do not need men in order to have babies. However, this kind of thinking can present some problems like legal and psychological problems. For instance, one of these problems is that the sperm donor may want to someday know the children that he fathered, which is unlikely but still possible. Some biological fathers claim their parental right over the child that they cause to be borne  by offering their sperm, even if the mothers have other men as their husbands.Another issue is that the donor-conceived children need a father who is biological so as to know who their father is, but those children have no right to know this. Therefore, having donor-conceived children requires many extreme responsibilities and these children’s life is not easy/ is not as easy as other children’s. Besides, sometimes,  if two donor-conceived children might fall in love with one another, they may turn out to be siblings, which is  an awful situation. These children would be shattered. One has to think twice before going down this path.
To conclude, every woman may want to have a baby, some of them don’t want men in their lives.  Nevertheless, I am of the opinion that  sperm banks are a great new way of giving birth to babies for only people who are infertile because women who are single cannot assume all the responsibilities and children who have only a mother have difficulties living properly. Every child should be raised by parents who include both the mother and the father and should know both the mother and the father.  If sperm banks supply all women who want to have a baby with the opportunity to do so, we will lose our spontaneity.
